Outfit Blueprints
Sometimes I stare blankly into my closet, hoping the closet fairy will come buzzing out carrying a perfectly paired outfit that I just can’t wait to wear. However, no matter how many hours I spent blankly staring into my closet, scanning every item, this fairy has yet to occur. I’m sure many of my readers also feel this way, sometimes outfit inspiration just fails to appear.
That is why I'm writing this post with five of my favorite outfit blueprints.
These are some basic outfit ideas that you can wear in a variety of ways.
I wore these outfits outfit blueprints throughout the weeks so this post is kind of a two-in-one: Outfit Blueprints AND Outfits of the week!
Monday: Jeans and a T-Shirt
On Monday I went as basic as basic can get with my outfit styling. A white tee and Levi's Jeans. But I mean there is no way that you can go wrong with this outfit. Levis can work in pretty much every setting and a white tee can be paired with pretty much any clothing item. I made this blueprint my own by wearing bootcut style Levis (my favorite style of jeans) and an off-white You’re Wrong About merchandise t-shirt. Anyone who knows me knows how much I love this podcast, and the shirt is one of my new favorite items in my closet. Another great way you can dress up this outfit is with fun shoes, I did this by wearing chunky black platform slides. I also went heavy with the dainty jewelry, 4 little necklaces, some dangly earrings, and some rings. I love outfits like this because they are so easy to put together and yet look so stylish.
Tuesday: Private School Chic
A recent trend that I think has always had an influence on fashion and will continue to impact the way we all dress. Sweater vests, pleated skirts, headbands, collared shirts, and thigh-high tights are all must-have items for this outfit blueprint that can easily be found somewhere in your house or a thrift store. I love this outfit blueprint because it can make a super simple outfit super chic. For this week my take on private school chic was my favorite red and black plaid jumper layered over top of a beautifully collared white blouse. I accessorized with some black knee-high stockings and wore some dangly sparkly earrings. Other variations of this outfit could be a polo and pants/ a skirt/ shorts. A knit sweater with really any bottoms. And honestly any kind of matchy-matchy outfit that includes some sort of collar. Private School Chic is one of my favorite trends whenever it comes around, and for now, I think it's gonna stick.
Wednesday: Baggy and tight
Another tried and true outfit blueprint, a baggy and tight look. This can be done with a pair of biker shorts and a big tee (a controversial look that I think, when done right, is so cute.) A corset top with baggy jeans. The list can be endless. For Wednesday I wore my take on this look by tucking two aqua-colored tops (one mock neck and one tank top) into some charcoal-colored baggy(ish) pants. I accessorized with my gold Aries necklace, silver hoops. For shoes, I went with black converse. This look is great because the varying fits of the clothes add some interest to the outfit. It's also super easy to put looks like this one together just based on things you have in your closet. Not to mention, I felt SUPER comph all day long.
Thursday: Farmers Market Mom
This is more of a general piece of inspiration rather than a direct blueprint, but it is a great way to format and base your outfits nonetheless. The Farmers Market Mom aesthetic can be anything from a large knit sweater and jeans, a picnic dress or, what I wore on Thursday: a midi skirt with a tank and a cardigan. With my hair up in a bun with a clip and carrying a canvas bag, of course. The funny thing is, on the day I wore this outfit a friend in one of my classes told me I have farmers market energy and it was the best compliment ever. The moral of the story, farmers' market mom isn't necessarily a specific outfit, just specific energy.
Friday: Layering Party
Worst case scenario (or best case scenario) LAYER! It’s ALWAYS a good way to spice up your outfit by adding another layer. Jeans and a t-shirt: add a turtleneck underneath, sweater and skirt: collar underneath, the list can go on and on. For Friday I wore one of my favorite hot pink turtlenecks underneath a white collared shirt, for pants I wore my favorite low rise jeans with a brown studded belt. I loved this outfit and I felt super cute all day long!
There you have it, some outfit blueprints for you to keep on hand! Thank you for reading <3
