How To Dress Like Astrid Sloan from The Politician

Hello readers!! Before I get into this post and tell you all about how to have a wardrobe and style inspired by Astrid Sloan, I want to talk about the reason I am doing this post. The Georgia Runoff election. As I’m sure many of you know there is a runoff election on January 5th (this Tuesday.) Georgia turning blue in terms of the senate could be a huge win for Democrats all over the country. So, if you are eligible to vote in Georgia, GO VOTE!! We know how crucial the senate being blue is, and dems are in the lead, so, lets makes this happen!! Now, onto the reason, you are here, clothes.

Astrids style is eye-catching, fun, and yet also sophisticated and defined. As with all the characters in the politician, when you see an Astrid outfit, you know it's an Astrid outfit. Astrid loves a puffy sleeve, colorful turtleneck and bright patterned dress. She also is not afraid of a fun eyeshadow look.

Astrid also had a notable style evolution in between seasons one and two. In season one she dressed as a schoolgirl with lots of money. There was something a tad “Clueless” about her style. She was always adorned in plaids and skirts and bows tied on her collars. And then in season two her style was much more sophisticated and matured. She dressed like a 20 something living in New York City with incredible style. There is something Dior (Maria Grazia’s better styles) to her looks. And many of her outfits also have a Carolina Herrera feel about them. Which I just love.

Outfits:

For these outfits, I tried to not just copy outfits I had seen Astrid wear in the past and rather use what I know about her style to craft outfits that I could see Astrid in and that I would style her in if I was the stylist for The Politician.

Outfit One: This outfit is a mix of Astrid season one AND two, with a little twist of Me. First, the tweed sweater, very Astrid season one, the fake leather pants, Astrid season two, and the band tee, a little twist of me imaging something Astrid would wear, but we haven't quite seen her in yet. The tweed sweater and the pleather pants could easily be dressed up with a white silky blouse, however, I decided to dress it down with the band tee and make it a little bit more casual.

Outfit Two: Astrid is always wearing her leopard print coat, and so it was only fitting that I wore my fuzzy leopard printed jacket. Underneath I wore a matching scarf tied in the front and for pants my high waisted bootcut jeans. I could see Astrid walking around the city in this outfit. Possibly perfect for a night out or just a brunch date.

Outfit Three: This outfit is something Astrid WOULD wear to school. The plaid jumper, with the pink tee and Peter Pan collar peeking out. I can almost see her standing in the school garden giving a campaign speech. The outfit is so schoolgirl chic. Not exactly resembling a school uniform, but just about halfway there. The pink in between the collar and the jumper adds some more color and texture. Overall, this outfit is perfect for an Astrid season 1 look.

Outfit Four: Now, this outfit is slightly more me than Astrid, but still very Astrid inspired and fun. I wore my white slip dress with a red cropped polo under and a pink cardigan over top. This outfit would have been just perfect with some pink tights, but I didn't have any. I could Astrid wearing this look to a campaign meeting and overall I love the mixing of pink and red.

Outfit Five: This outfit was VERY Astrid out to lunch. I wore a lavender shirt/dress with a defined collar and buttons under a grey shift-ish style dress. With some black mary jane heels, this outfit is complete. Again, some colored tights really would have been a great finishing touch. But still, this outfit is so cute.
