How to style: Blazer

Blazers:

When you think of blazers, what do you think of?

A think wooly fabric and puffy shoulder pads?

A sleek suit?

Im sure some of you reading this think blazers are too much, are "old lady” clothes or are just plain ugly.

However I assure you, you are wrong.

Whether you dig one out of your moms closet, find it in the thrift store or buy it new, a blazer is a must in anybodies closet. Its the perfect way to dress up or dress down an outfit, add structure or just make clothes that on your body into an outfit.

Personally, I’ve been off my blazer game recently, as sitting in front of the computer all day on zooms doesn’t seem like the best setting to wear a stiff shoulder-padded contraption, however as soon as I go back to school blazers are going to make their way back into my rotation.

Here are my top tips when it comes to styling blazers:

A black midi skirt and white sheer detailed top. A simple cute outfit, very versatile, THEN you add the fitted blazer. The blazer adds structure, whilst keeping the outfit in the same style. Option one and two of this look both fit in the same setting, perfect to wear to school, or out to lunch or dinner. For this specific outfit I think a black blazer might be a little better, but you get the idea. And as I always say, the outfits I put on here are just templates, that you can customize to what you have in your closet and what’s your style.

This white slip dress is one of my favorite pieces in my closet, its the PERFECT piece to layer with anything, from a turtleneck over top OR under, tucked into pants, or in this case, with a blazer layered over top. It takes the simple slip from light and ethereal to business ready and academic.

This is one of my top favorite ways to wear a blazer: A plaid skirt with a sweater tucked in, and then, for some structure: layer a blazer over top.

Giving me very school uniform vibes. A pleated skirt and polo shirt, with a blazer layered on top. I love pink and green together and this is one of my favorite ways to pair the colors together.

Another one of my favorite ways to wear a blazer: my HOLY GRAIL jeans (we all have a pair) a white tank top and a blazer. If you know me, you know I wear this outfit blueprint all the time, Its stylish, put together and customizable.

THIS DRESS. you guys already know. I thrifted it just under a year ago and it has been a staple in my closet since. Another color combo I LOVE is green and purple, SO this simple and dainty lilac dress paired with a green blazer, to make the dress a little more stylish.

Last: A play on that classic girl in dress - its cold out - guy/person she’s with gives her their blazer - she puts it on. Accept, who needs a person with a blazer when you can supply your own! A nice dress with a oversized blazer makes for the PERFECT mix of masculine and feminine (not that closing has gender binaries :))

Thank you so much for reading this post! I hope you got some styling inspiration <3
