Outfits of the Week - Winter Edition

So… I did just post a what I wore in a week like, a couple weeks ago. BUT these are one of my favorite kinds of posts to write, as much as I love Op-Eds and talking about trends and talking about specific items, there is is really nothing I love more than just everyday outfits, finding new ways to style pieces I’ve had forever and trying out new silhouettes and layering techniques is something that is away from a screen and creative. Whats not to love?? Recently I’ve been thinking a lot about the phrases “Its not the clothes you have, its how you wear them” and also “Its not the clothes, its how they fit you” I think both tayloring and styling are two incredibly important aspects of outfits, and I’ve been playing around with both of them recently. Without further ado, here are my outfits of the week,

Monday: Thanks to a recent raid of my mothers closet I found this beautiful blouse, something about it called my name. I immediately knew I would want to style the blouse under a dress, I decided to go with my cream collared slip dress. I am TELLING YOU the slip dress is the best 7 dollars I ever spent at a Salvation Army it is so versatile I cant remember the last time I went a span of two weeks without wearing it which is how I think clothes should work. I with the tan of the flowers on the blouse and the cream of the dress matched better but you know, it is what it is. I love the idea of dressing down business wear and wearing things that are not supposed to be seen as the center of attention (example: slip dress). I paired this look with these Mary Jane style black and cream heels to tie everything today.

Tuesday: Another product of my recent closet raid, this cute little dress skirt with bows on the back and front. To dress the skirt down I paired it with this black sheer and rushed top, I tucked it into my bra to dress down the skirt even more. For shoes I went with a pair of thrifted black heels with a lace strap, the heels elevated but also dressed down the look (the lace added a more relaxed look).

Wednesday:This is an outfit I was VERY excited about. I LAYERED with this look but it worked out for the best. I started out with a simple grey dress and fishnets and then over the grey dress I did an oversized white dress shirt, and then over THAT I did a turtleneck. I loved the layering of the dress (well more like skirt now) with the bottom of the dress shirt and then the turtleneck on top. The fishnets I thought were super cute and then I just did black converse as shoes just to tone down everything

Thursday: Regan?? Wearing color?? I know, very strange. I just felt a monochrome pink look calling my name, maybe cause, on Thursday we wear pink? Anyways for this look I went with a pink crop top, sweater and charcoal dress pants. I felt very carrie Bradshaw but im not about it. I wore my white fuzzy heels for shoes.

Friday: My uniform. Low rise jeans, a tank and a blazer. Black converse as shoes. I am too predictable.
