Reviewing Old Outfits

A couple months back I saw one of my favorite content creators “Best Dressed” posted a video where she reviewed her old outfits. I thought the idea was super funny and one I definitely wanted to carry over to my blog. I originally was writing a style evolution post, however I think just blatantly giving a timeline is much more boring than a vogue runway “review” style critique on my elementary school outfits.

Preschool-3rd Grade: In preschool to around 1st grade my style was… interesting? I was very, very, very into layering, I would layer a long sleeve, tee shirt, tank top, leggings, shirt and skirt all into one somehow. Not only were my style choices very interesting, but they were very purposeful. I hear stories all the time about how I would refuse to change into tennis shoes from my princess heels when going outside or throw a fit when I was told to change something before leaving the house. Then as I got into elementary my outfits became more bland.

In these two outfits I was on a mission. The first outfit was my first day of school for 3rd grade. I remember thinking I looked so cool because everything I was wearing was from Tillys. I don’t mind the black sheer collared shirt, however the fact that it is a tank top is a little bit disheartening, however a long sleeve version of that would be something I would most definitely wear today. I also don’t mind the combat boots, and I think when styled well are very cute and are very much in style today with the resurgence of Doctor Martens. As for the skirt: I am not a huge fan of the high low style or the pattern so that is something I would not wear in any variation today however I do love long skirts so I like that that was incorporated into this outfit. The second outfit was my New Years Eve outfit from 2013 to 2014, the blue eyeshadow, pearls, and bracelets. The grey sparkly snakeskin dress? Honestly just a no.

4th to 7th grade: This was the time period in which I started dressing with the thought that I should dress like a teacher. And that was definitely represented very well. At least I succeeded ?

In these two outfits the wannabe teacher look really shines through. The first outfit is honestly not bad, the matching leopard print sweater and socks, black boots, tool skirt. I don’t know if I would wear this outfit today however I think it was cute for the time and honestly have nothing negative to say about it. The second outfit gives me real, full teacher vibes: The creamsicle orange ballet flats, white pants, floral orange top. Im not a huge fan of this outfit but I think it aligns with my goal of dressing like a teacher, so at least something good came out of it.

8th grade: Brandy Melville (that’s all I have to say)

These two outfits were very similar in that they both include SHORT jean shorts and a red crop top. A style that was very 8th grade of me and very on trend for the “middle school” VSCO girl type style. I don’t HATE these outfits, they honestly just seem so basic, I guess is the word. And I just know with the love of fashion I have now I could do so much more with these pieces.
