SPRING TREND ALERT
Welcome to my annual spring trends post! I am so happy you are here! In today's post, I am going to be looking at all of the items that I (self-proclaimed trend predictor) think are going to be trendy this spring. Reminder before you get into the post: trend culture can be super harmful, and it is important to remember that trends are temporary and fast fashion, which keeps trends going is so harmful to humans, and to the environment. SO, be mindful of where you shop and only buy pieces that you know are going to be well-loved by you for a long time, regardless of if they are trendy or not.
SHORT skirts
ITSY BITSY MINI skirts. I love a mini skirt it's sassy, cutesy, and fun. Short skirts have been all over the runway recently. Tennis skirts and private school skirts were trendy this autumn and I think that the trend is going to continue into spring. I think A-line short mini skirts are going to be what is coming into style this spring. These skirts can be worn with literally anything, so style them as you wish!
Psychedelic Prints
As we all know, fashion repeats itself. Right now EVERYTHING is repeating itself, I see the 80's, 90’s, 70’s, 60’s. This trend is a bit of a ’70s-’60s repeat. I’m more of a neutral girl for sure, however, that doesn't mean I can't appreciate a fun, colorful print here and there. Usually, when wearing a more out-there print, you wanna pair it with a more chill other piece, for example, psychedelic pants, white tank, psychedelic top, plain blue jeans.
Sequins
I think sequins are gonna be a big thing this spring. Specifically sequin pants, but also just sequin everything. I’ve seen sequin clothes on tik tok, when online shopping, on the runway, and in street style. I think this trend plays into the idea that fashion trends for spring are gonna be really fun and out there. As most of us have been living such mundane, cooped-up lives for this past year, it's only natural to want to have fun with fashion. Sequin clothes could be paired with any range of things, however, if you're not doing sequin on sequin, I would recommend pairing with an item that doesn't have a real intense texture, just to minimize visual overload.
Wide leg and bootcut pants
I’ve been a bootcut pant girl for FOREVER now, and as we all know skinny jeans are officially out. With the risk of the whole internet hating me, I have to say I don't hate skinny jeans. I think when styled right they can be cute and chic, but I digress. So yes, on the runway, street style, and in stores wide leg, baggy and bootcut jeans have been taking over. You can wear these pants with anything, that's the beauty of them.
Intense Collars
Pretty sure I’ve mentioned this trend on numerous other trend prediction posts, but I mean it just keeps being trendy. Double collars, intense lapels, printed and textured lapels. They are going to be everywhere this spring and I am very excited about it. You can wear this trend with any pants or skirt, just if the collar is out there, maybe keep the rest of the outfit chill, to let the collar shine.
Puff sleeves
I honestly don't have that many puff sleeve pieces in my closet and I need some!! This trend is so preppy chic and is on all of the runways and in every store. Puff sleeves are perfect for layering and dressing up or down. I would style them with more form-fitting pants, just to juxtapose the bagginess/ puff of the sleeve.
Leather on leather on leather
I have been a champion of leather pants for a LONG TIME NOW. And it makes me so happy when people text me pictures of leather pants they're buying because it's an association they have with me. Leather pants started becoming a trend in winter and I think they are going to continue into spring!
Patterned sweaters
And not like any pattern. I’m talking about sweaters that tell STORIES. There is a house, and a person and a tree, and a dog in this sweater. You know the ones I’m talking about?? I’ve seen them on House of Sunny and other little shops of the sort. I don’t have one, cause all of the ones I have found have been super expensive. But if I did have a sweater like this, I would pair it with a pair of plain jeans, to let the sweater shine.
Bubblegum pink
Colors in the same vein as bubble gum pink, like sage green, electric blue, pastel yellow have all been super trendy recently. And I think bubblegum pinks time to shine is going to be this spring. From sweaters to pants this fun, cheerful color is going to be everywhere, and I love it. Pair it with another bright color for an even more happy, spring look.
